What is an ad server?

An Ad Server is a web server where various ad formats (banners, videos) and their associated data are stored. It delivers advertising content to supply-side platforms (SSPs) in response to browser requests, e.g., when users open web pages. The server is also responsible for ad targeting, tracking the number of impressions, and monitoring the effectiveness of campaigns.
